FEAST on authentic Malay dishes with Middle Eastern and international twists this Ramadan at Olive Tree Hotel Penang.

Specially created to satisfy diverse palates, the buffet spread features seven rotating menus from June 6 to July 5.

One highlight is the must-have traditional Malay salad of ulam-ulaman served with a variety of sambal.

Another crowd pleaser are the assorted seafood delights on ice comprising lobster, shrimp, king scallop, snow crab and oyster.

Savour hot dishes such as sup ayam berempah, dum briyani kambing kampung,udang goreng berempah, ikan siakap bakar (top photo), sambal tumis sotong, kari ayam Arab,kambing masak kurma and chicken tandoori/satay wraps.

Every creation is intense in taste with the aroma of spices to whet one’s appetite for more.

Other Malay dishes include sayur lodeh, pajeri nenas, ekor lembu masak merah,puyuh goreng berempah, rendang paru-paru, gulai ketam, kari burung unta masakbatang pisang and otak-otak.

Adding to the excitement are action stalls serving up sizzling hot kambing panggang, ayam madu bakar, assam laksa, kebab kambing, roti prata, murtabak, pita bread and other dishes.

Wash it all down with free flow of beverages like bandung soda, soya milk with cincau and mata kucing.

For a sweet ending, choose from delectable desserts like bubur kacang, fruit pavlova, assorted kuih, fruit jelly in glass, coffee mousse, apple crumble and Linzer Torte.

Served from 6.30pm to 10pm daily, the buffet is priced at RM98+ per adult and RM50+ per child.

Adults get to enjoy the early bird promotion of 10% discount for bookings fully paid by May 27.

Olive Tree has also whipped up a Ramadan Sahur set menu for in-house guests to be served in their rooms before 5.45am.

The meal, if not bundled into the room package, is priced at RM35+ per person.

The set consists a choice of four main dishes — nasi lemak with fried chicken,mee goreng mamak, Penang char koay teow and curry fish — served together with one type of egg (omelette, sunny side up, over easy/scrambled), chilled fruit juice, hot coffee/tea and cut fruits.

Prior to Ramadan, do check out the hotel’s signature Grilled Seafood Buffet from 6.30pm to 10pm on every Friday and weekends at Sukkah Coffee House. Indulge in the bounty of the sea at RM88+ for adults, RM44+ for children and RM55+ for senior citizens.

Sukkah is also the place for a delightful hi-tea from noon to 3pm every weekend and selected public holidays.
