A Mexican favourite joins the interesting line-up of American-style dishes at restaurant chain.

Some believe that food eaten with the fingers taste much nicer, and at TGI Fridays (TGIF), you can try it out for yourself through its ongoing Extreme Tacos promotion.

With tacos, one definitely has to forgo eating daintily in favour of some messy fun while dining with family or friends. Described as a traditional Mexican dish, tacos are usually corn or wheat tortilla wrapped around a savoury filling, which is best picked up by hand to be eaten.

At TGIF, there are four different flour-based tortilla tacos, each a complete meal on its own and accompanied by fries on the side, each for RM26.90++.

Being one who enjoys anything crispy, the Tortilla Crusted Fish Tacos instantly became my favourite with its tortilla-bits encrusted fish fillets.

This particular taco looks somewhat like a breaded prawn tempura but it is accompanied with a creamy lemon dill remoulade sauce dip and has more of a fish and chips feel. It was interesting with the corn salsa and shredded lettuce included in the wrap.

The BBQ Burger Tacos with its chargrilled beef slathered in a slightly smoky barbeque sauce and topped with beef bacon, rich melted Colby cheese and fragrant deep fried onions is a great combination of flavours.

Beef-lovers will find the Black and Bleu Burger Tacos featuring a generous burger patty, sauteed with Cajun blackening spices made of herbs, a juicy mouthful. This particular wrap is made richer with some mild but thick blue cheese dressing, topped with refreshing pico de gallo and lettuce.

Last but not least is the Extreme Buffalo Chicken Tacos (top pic) with fried chicken tossed with TGIF’s buffalo wing sauce, a tangy combination that was nicely balanced off with some a topping of creamy blue cheese and shredded red cabbage.

The tacos selection complements the TGIF menu that already has a number of American favourites including burgers, steaks, ribs, pastas and more.

The promotion is available across all 15 TGIF eateries in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Johor.

Each taco order can be paired with a Mountain Dew regular or pitch black for an additional RM5++ while Pinch of Salt cardmembers will enjoy this offer on a complimentary basis.
