THE Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) has come up with sumptuous treat for Ramadan. Conceptualised by chef Sahisal Azrul Mat Said and his team, the buffet this time around will consist of a delectable spread of a combination of local and Middle Eastern cuisine.

A stall-like atmosphere has been created to house a variety of dishes where guests would be able to enjoy al-fresco style by the pool side, while being entertained by a live ghazal band. Chef Sahisal has designed six different sets of menus which will be rotated daily, each one with over 100 different types of delicacies.

KLGCC’s Ramadan buffet will allow you to feast on old favourites such as Daging Masak Lemak, Koay Teow Kerang Basah, Lidah Bakar, Kava Makanan Laut and Udang Masak Lemak Nenas. “The Seafood Kava is where we combine Malay and Thai cooking methods. One of it is the use of coconut water to rinse the seafood to rid them of the fishy odour,” explained chef Sahisal.

A new entry into the menu is Nasi Mandee — a popular Middle Eastern fragrant rice prepared with herbs and spices. “This will be served with tandoori style lamb or chicken,” added chef Sahisal. This special type of long-grain rice from Pakistan is extra fluffy and less starchy than local rice.

Fancy eating salted fish? You will be in for a treat as there will be five to six types of salads with salted fish from Terengganu and Kuala Kurau served at the appetiser counter. Once you’re done with that, make your way to the area where the hot dishes are, comprising Nasi Tumis, Rendang Ayam Daun Pegaga (one of their signature dishes), Daging Salai Cili Api (chef Sahizal’s favourite which is also available a la carte), Ikan Goreng Berlada, Sotong Sumbat Pulut, Pucuk Paku Goreng Belacan as well as the all-time Ramadan favourites — bubur lambok and sup ekor. The buffet will also feature roti canai and rojak buah, to name a few.

At the stall area, you will be spoilt for choice with the addition of Mee Rebus Gearbox, different types of grilled fish (ikan bakar), Lidah Bakar and Nasi Arab Kambing Panggang. After all that spiciness, a sweet treat is ideal end to the meal.

Salizal has added traditional and contemporary desserts to the buffet counter. These include putu piring, Puteri Mandi, Tepung Pelita, sago gula melaka, kuih bakar, tapai pulut daun detah, Badak Berendam, Pengat Ubi Kayu, Pengat Nangka and the not-to-be-missed, Turkish Ice Cream. The taste of this ice cream is lighter and less sweet than store-bought brands.

Ramadan vouchers are priced at RM70 per person until Aug 28 and RM50 for KLGCC members throughout Ramadan. For vouchers or other enquiries, call 03-2093 1111.
