THIS fasting month, not only hotels and fine restaurants are offering splendid buka puasa buffet but patrons can also have a feast at a stall-style restaurant where the roti boom originally came from — Naan Corner, located in Ampang Jaya.

The restaurant’s director Sharina Parwiz Kausar and her twin sister executive director Shatina Parwiz Kausar said Naan Corner was now preparing for the buffet.

“We have been offering the buffet many years ago and the feedback has been great every year, especially from our regular customers and tourists who have heard about our food,” said Sharina.

The eatery, which opened in 1983, offers a Ramadan buffet that features over 40 dishes that are popular among Malaysians together with its speciality Northern Indian cuisine.

Patrons can start their Malaysian-style gastronomic adventure with roti boom, which is a smaller and thicker version of the roti canai.

It was invented by the restaurant’s founder Parwiz Kausar.

Home-cooked style Ketam Masak Lemak Cili Padi, Sambal Sotong Asam Pedas and Lala Masak Cili Padi are some of the dishes in the buffet.

Tahu bakar, nasi lemak and murtabak are also available.

Executive director Shatina Parwiz Kausar said the highlight in the Malay lauk spread is the restaurant’s Daging Dendeng that is prepared using their grandmother’s secret recipe.

Those who pine for scrumptious Northern Indian food would be happy to find a good selection of Beef Kima, Beef Masala and Butter Chicken, among others.

Many local desserts and Malay cakes such as Seri Muka and Ondeh-ondeh are prepared by Sharina herself.

For those who want more than what the buffet has to offer, they can order dishes from the a la carte menu.

Some of the tasty dishes in the menu are Mee Rebus, Yee Mee Cantonese, Roti Naan and Sup Tulang Singapore.

The must-try dish in a la-carte menu is the founder’s favourite — Nasi Goreng Boss — which consists of special fried rice, satay ayam, fried egg, sambal lala, and Dendeng Daging and papadom.

The buffet, priced at RM25nett until the last day of Ramadan, is available from 6pm to 9pm.
