MY ONLY excuse to go to Kota Kemuning in Shah Alam is a bicycle shop called GW Bicycle Boutique.
The outlet, owned by my friend Lee, specialises in high-end folding bikes.
It was on one of these trips, while looking for parking, that I came across Imbi Road Meatballs Noodles Restaurant (N 03 00.167,
E 101 32.378) in Jalan Anggerik Vanilla N31/N.
The makan place was packed at lunchtime and curiosity led me to give the restaurant a try with Lee in tow.
I ordered a bowl of chee yuk yeen fun (pork ball noodles) with extra ingredients and noodles.
And since Kota Kemuning is a high-end township, the order came up to RM9.50 per bowl.
Premium-pricing aside, how did this chee yuk yeen shop fare?
I would say the pork balls are only so-so.
The saving grace was the hor fun (rice noodle sheets), which were smooth as silk, and
the siew cheong (roasted pigs intestine sausage) is one of the best I have come across in the Shah Alam area.
I found the siew cheong to be sweet and crunchy, as not many chee yuk yeen stalls are able to deliver this side dish well.
Even with the karr-lieu (additional ingredients), I found the noodle seller to be quite
koo-horn (stingy) as he gave only three slices.
Another key ingredient that was missing was the sliced pickled green chillies. When it comes to chee yuk yeen fun, this is a must.
Instead, what I got was some chilli sauce that seemed out of place.
Overall, the noodles were pretty decent in terms of taste.
You can have the chee yuk yeen fun in
kwon-lou (dry gravy) or chee suay (noodle soup).
