IMPERIAL Chakri Palace in KLCC is offering a mouth-watering array of Thai delicacies in conjunction with Mother’s Day, from now until May 19.

The restaurant has compiled some of Chakri’s best dishes and created three set menus ranging from RM398++ to RM588++ for pax of four.

Set 1, priced at RM398++, comprises an appetiser, Thai Papaya Salad with home-made Fish Cake, a choice of Chakri Tom Yam Pok Tek with Mussels, Squid and Shrimp or Chakri Tom Yam with King Prawn, mains consisting of Deep-Fried Garoupa with Thai sauce, Chicken with Cashew Nut and Chilli, Creamy Butter Cheese King Prawn and Sautéed Asparagus and Scallop with steamed fragrant rice, as well as choices of desserts such as Special Chakri Avocado Sago, Chocolate Fresh Fruit Platter or Thab Thim Krob (Red Ruby Special).

The tom yam choices and desserts are the same in all three menus.

Set 2, priced at RM458++, has the Thai Mango Salad with Minced Catfish, which we found interesting and unique.

The tartness from the mango complements the crunchy catfish, which is chopped, baked and fried to crispy perfection.

The mains include Deep-Fried Seabass with Samunpuri Sauce, Pandan Leaf Chicken, Soft Shell Crab with Yellow Curry and Stir-fried Kailan and Mush-room with rice.

“All our chefs are from Thailand so guests can expect authentic food.

“We also try to re-invent ourselves to offer more for our customers,” said Rotol Food-Chain (M) Sdn Bhd director Caleen Chua.

The Rotol Group owns Chakri Palace in KLCC, Chakri Xpress in Alamanda, Putrajaya, Rainforest Bistro in Sunway Pyramid as well as Rainforest Cafe in KL Tower and KL Convention Centre.

Heading the kitchen at Chakri Palace is head chef Nipa Nutto and her son, Nopporn.

“Our idea for Mother’s Day is to mix traditional and modern dishes which guests can enjoy with friends and family.

“It is our own creation and we try to include healthy ingredients like avocado, too,” said Nopporn.

Set 3, priced at RM588++, has the sought-after Mieng Kiam and mixed seafood salad, and the mains comprise Fried Lobster with Butter Cheese Sauce, Soft Shell Crab with Yellow Curry, Green Curry and Stir-fried Broccoli with Mushrooms and rice.

The lobster is fresh and succulent and the sauce is delicate without being overwhelming.

Aside from the set menus, guests can also enjoy Chakri Palace’s single platter and ala-carte items.

“Because we are in KLCC, some guests think our food is expensive.

“But you can order a decent meal with a drink and the cost is less than RM30,” said Rotol Group managing director Datuk Garry Chua.

On Mother’s Day this Sunday, mothers can also participate in a complimentary fruit carving class conducted by the in-house chef.

An exclusive limited soap-carving gift will also be given away with each set menu.

Chakri Palace is one of the first restaurants to open in KLCC in 1999 and has been enjoying brisk business, especially during lunch hour.

The outlet has designated VIP rooms for small private parties.
