IMAGINE breaking your fast in in a quaint English setting in Kuala Lumpur. At Harrods in Suria KLCC, the Chef’s Sunset Special from Aug 5 to 26 offers a lovely experience of a Tea Salon this Ramadan.

Seven different menus have been introduced for this semi-buffet where patrons can choose their main course. Different soups are served daily, while the desserts and appetisers are spread across the table along with three type of drinks.

Tradewinds Premium Goods Sdn Bhd (the franchise holder for Harrods Malaysia) marketing and business development manager Rosnah Abdullah explained that the buffet was called ‘sunset’ to represent the breaking of the fast.

She said the dining area could seat and every customer is assured of exclusive service.

“This is our second year of offering this semi-buffet spread. It was well received when we introduced it last year.

“Most of our customers call ahead to make reservations and we can accommodate more people if they do not mind adding another chair to a table of four.

“We also cater to vegetarians,” she said.

Chef de cuisine Tony Cham, the man behind the delicious concoctions, geared up for Ramadan with much enthusiasm.

The dishes prepared have a mixture of local and other spices such as Arabic and Indian in terms of marination and sauce.

“Based on last year’s feedback, people seem to enjoy choosing their main course, so we decided to continue this year,” he said.

For this Ramadan, Cham recommends the Slow Roasted Salmon Fillet with Kaffir Lime Leaves served with boiled parsley potatoes and braised fennel.

The portions are generous and the concept is customised to suit one’s taste.

To start, the Cream of Carrot and Pumpkin Lemon Grass Soup is a unique blend of the sweetness of the pumpkin with a light tangy tinge.

Chicken Picatta with Thyme Sauce served with garden vegetables and Pilaf rice will be a favourite, the rice is tasty as it is cooked with butter and bay leaves while the chicken, which is made with flour, parmesan cheese and egg is an equal match.

The Meatloaf Frittata is a fun kind of omelette with meatloaf, capsicum, onions and seasoning.

Seafood Cutlet with Butter Ribbon of Carrot and Zucchini served with Basil Tomato Coulis is a very mild dish and the cutlet is filled with three types of seafood, enough to give it a full range of tastes and textures.

Mixed Grill of Fillet of Beef, Rack of Lamb and Chicken Sausage served with roasted potatoes and garden vegetables suits the typical meat lovers as the beef and lamb come tenderly cooked and the sausage is a great addition to the big dish.

Slow Roasted Salmon Fillet with Kaffir Lime Leaves served with boiled parsley potatoes and braised fennel is a must-try as the Salmon is very fresh and sweet.

Smoked Chicken with Garden Salad and Arabia Salatta (Mesclun, Romaine Lettuce, Roma Tomato with Middle Eastern spices) is ideal for those wanting to keep a slim figure yet enjoy a full meal.

The freshness of the salad mixed with the spices and chicken is delicious and can be shared with others.

For dessert, the Honey Date Fritters offers a crunchy sweetness while the Raspberry Creme Brulee, Mini Pavlova and Mini Apple Crumble make for delicious nibbling.

To seal the deal at this buka puasa, the Harrods English Teh Tarik is specially made with a selection of teas from Harrods.

The buffet is priced at RM98++ per person and starts from 6.30pm onwards. Reservations preferred.
