AS THE saying goes “a smiling face is half a meal”, Dynasty Dragon Seafood Restaurants take this literally and has listed personality as a primary criterion in hiring its staff especially the chef.

Sales and marketing manager Yendy Loh said restaurants are aplenty and taste is subjective, therefore providing something extra with a little difference is important to sustain the business.

“Chinese food is easy to find, so we have to set ourselves apart. After all, we are in a service industry and good service is vital to make sure we have repeat customers.

“The Chinese believe that food prepared by a happy chef taste better than a moody one.

“That is why we make sure that the chef preparing the dishes is one with a good personality,” she said when met at the branch in SStwo Mall.

Executive chef John Lim, 42, seemed shy and humble but very attentive. He was also particular about food preparation and presentation, and made sure the food was eaten when it was still hot.

To provide a hassle-free venue, all five branches are located in shopping malls — SStwo Mall, Berjaya Times Square, The Summit Subang USJ, IOI Mall and Klang Parade.

“Accessibility, transport and parking are our primary concern to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. We can host huge dinners here and can cater up to 1,500 guests at a time and are still expanding,” Loh said.

The women can even come to the saloons in the mall to get dressed in time for their function. Rain or shine will not be a problem anymore.

Loh also said the company acknowledges that many patrons are concerned about the cleanliness of restaurants and are always doubtful of their hygiene level.

“That is why we have adopted the open concept. The patrons can see what goes on in the kitchen through the glass panels. This instills confidence that the food is clean.

“We also have tanks with live fishes, lobster, geoducks, prawns and clams, in full view of the patrons to proof that all the seafood are made fresh,” she said.

The branch at SStwo Mall which started operations in Dec 2010.

The ongoing promotion include 20% off on dim sum, set lunch menus from RM 88.00+ for four persons and crab dishes at RM 29.80+ per kg (valid with 3kg per table order) only at the SS2 Mall branch.
