Going in search of good food is a bonus when it hits the mark.

GOOD mee rebus is hard to come by. Especially when you live in the Klang Valley.

My “gold-standard” for this Malay noodle dish is Rosli Mee Rebus in Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur.

It’s one of the finest around and best of all, the noodles are cheap.

Recently, I went on a hunt for mee rebus in Petaling Jaya and found Yusof Mee Rebus in Taman Medan.

The trip to locate this makan place was a mini-adventure in itself.

I had done some research on the Internet about this mee rebus eatery and learned that not all social media apps can be fully trusted.

One brought me to Kampung Dato’ Harun, about 3km off-course.

After gettting some clues from my mobile device, I ended up in Taman Medan.

But, the search was futile.

So, back to the old-fashioned way, “Ask someone”.

I parked my car and went up to a woman running a roadside stall selling coconut water.

The only visual clue I had was a picture of Yusof Mee Rebus and she immediately told me to head in the direction of a cluster of flats nearby.

Jalan lurus, belok kanan, kedai ni dekat felat,” she said with an Indonesian accent.

After a short drive, I managed to locate the restaurant and wasted no time in placing my order for a plate of Mee Rebus Daging (RM5).

There was a middle-aged woman taking orders and the makan place was quite packed.

Since the noodles are prepared to order, it took a while for my mee rebus to reach the table. But it was worth the wait as it tasted pretty good.

There’s enough “ooomph!” in the gravy to pack a punch and the portions are pretty decent.

If you have the appetite of Godzilla, you might end up asking for seconds.

On the Samo-scale, I would rate Yusof’s Mee Rebus a 8.5 out of 10.
