JUST a week after opening its doors again at the Saujana Hotel, Ti Chen Restaurant is not only offering a new line of dishes for those craving authentic Chinese cuisine but also set menus to usher in the Dragon year.

According to Saujana Hotel public relations manager Azimy Wan Ahmad, the restaurant went through a month of refurbishment in the hope of giving the only Chinese restaurant at the hotel a contemporary outlook.

“During the temporary closure, many members kept asking us when the restaurant will reopen and believe it or not, on the first day of its opening we actually hosted a function.

“The whole restaurant was booked and was closed to our walk-in guests,” he said.

Most of the guests at the restaurant were members or golfers who had just completed a round of golf at the Saujana Golf and Country Club.

Azimy explained that the restaurant was offering four Chinese New Year set menus priced from RM888++ to RM2288++.

During the review recently, we tasted the Jade set (RM988++) which started off with a platter of Salmon Yee Sang followed by Shark’s Fin soup topped with Crabmeat and Dried Scallops which most of us on the table skipped.

However, Azimy assured that those who were not in favour of the soup could swap for other soups. But they would have to inform the chef earlier.

The lunch continued with the Roasted Chicken Tong Kwai, Stir Fried Prawns with Seasonal Salt and the Steamed Red Snapper Fish with Superior Soya Sauce.

A vegetable dish of Braised Sea Cucumber with Fish Maw, Dried Oysters and Fatt Choy came together with the chef’s Special Steamed Glutinous Rice where we were told to savour both dishes together.

For dessert we had the Red Bean Rice Balls with a selection of seasonal fruits and mandarin oranges.

This set menu is suitable for a table of 10 however smaller families can also order by paying RM98.80 per person with a minimum order of five dining guests per set.

To top it off, Ti Chen is presenting a complimentary gift for every table of 10.

The Pearl set (RM888++) is accompanied with a bottle of Misterio Cabernet Sauvignon, while the Jade (RM988++) comes with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label 12 years.

The Golden set (RM1398++) comes with a bottle of Hennessy VSOP and the Emperor set comes with the Singleton-Single Malt Whisky 12 years.

For Yee Sang, guests can chose the Abalone, Salmon, Rainbow, Jelly Fish or Vegetarian Goose combination with prices starting at RM38 for small to RM288 for large.
