WITH an appetising spread, Spices @ Furama, offers diners a tasty lunch treat of local cuisine featuring the famous Penang Nasi Kandar with an assortment of side dishes.

107133BF1C2F4699B11F38681D4B0737Fulfilling meal: The ever-popular Penang mee rebus with sweet potato gravy.

From appetisers to the main course and desserts, food lovers will be able to indulge in varied flavours.

Check out the restaurant’s first ever nasi kandar promotion featuring a five day rotation menu offering up to six flavourful curries a day.

Among the curries to look out for is the Chicken Curry, Mutton Dalcha, Crab Curry and the restaurant’s signature dish, Fish Head Curry with Okra.

The toothsome curry is aromatic, as it first braised with curry leaves, okra, Bombay onions and various spices with curry paste, before the fish head is added into the pot.

The curry is cooked to perfection as the fish strikes a good balance between the various flavours incorporated in the dish.

“I use red snapper because it has a firmer texture and its sweetness enhances the curry’s flavour,” said sous chef Haslinda Nawi.

Before moving on to the main course, diners can delight in appetisers such as Chicken Kerabu, Egg Salad with Black Pepper, Fish Achar, Acar Jelatah, Halia Achar, Coleslaw with Dried Fruits, Russian Salad and Cabbage Kootus.

The real nasi kandar treat is in the main course which features dishes like Braised Mamak Beef, Chicken Curry, Deep fried Squid, Spicy Chicken, Vegetable Dhal, Stir Fried Spinach and Chili, Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Masala, Crab Curry, Braised Beef Samah, Dhal Rice and Chicken Honey Glazed.

Another dish to look out for is the Penang mee rebus with yellow noodles soaked in sweet potato gravy, topped with dried shrimp and served with beancurd, prawn fritters, bean sprout and hard boiled eggs.

Haslinda also shared a little secret on how to thicken the gravy.

“I use crushed Marie biscuits to thicken the gravy.

“The biscuits are slightly salty and it goes well with the sweetness of the potatoes,” she said.

Other tempting dishes in the buffet include Beef Ribs Soup, Penang char kway teow, nasi briyani, pasembor, rojak mamak and an assortment of Malay kuih and cendol.

Customers can enjoy the promotion at RM55++ for adults and RM 27.50++ for children.

The promotion is for lunch only but at night, there’s the Peranakan (Baba Nyonya) buffet dinner. Both promotions end on May 31.
