BREAKING fast this Ramadan cannot be any easier on the pocket with Bayou Coffeehouse’s buffet promotion that offers 60 dishes at RM39.90++.

However, coffeehouse chef and owner Rodziah Abd Rahman said diners would have to cough out RM10 for every 100 grams of food wasted.

“We want our patrons to enjoy the meal and not see the food go to waste,’’ said Rodziah, who has more than 30 years of kitchen experience.

Together with her assistant chef Shabbir Hussein, Rodziah will be serving 60 different types of dishes, a blend of Malaysian, Indonesian and Japanese flavours.

Apart from the dishes at the buffet section, there will also be several live-cooking stations, where classic Malaysian favourites like kuey teow and mee goreng will be whipped up, dishes enjoyed better served hot.

“The other highlights at the live stations are the Nasi Kambing Mandy and the grilled version cooked with basmathi, egg and topped with home-made spices to whet one’s appetite,’’ added Rodziah.

She said the Nasi Kambing Mandy is a popular Indonesian dish, where the lamb is roasted and then steamed with rice.

The main buffet features a variety of fish, chicken, meat, and prawn dishes, all cooked up with Bayou Coffeehouse home-made spices.

Those who love BBQ can try the Stuffed Roasted Whole Lamb and grilled items like lamb shoulder, beef, ikan pari seasoned with black pepper and Mexican BBQ served with French mustard, mint and air asam sauce.

The soup corner offers Bubur Lambuk and Sup Tulang Rawan.

Rodziah also recommended the live-cooking station that offered tandoori, to be enjoyed with garlic, Kashmiri or butter naan and beef keema.

There is a good spread of Indonesian Minangkabau-style dishes and Rodziah said the Empal Daging, which is a beef dish baked with home-made spices, should not be given a miss.

“In fact most of our dishes are cooked with home-made spices. The Dendang Berlada is another beef dish marinated and fried with special spices,’’ added Rodziah.

Under the fish fillet category, different types of fish, such as dory and siakap, will be served according to diner’s preference.

The perfect end to any meal would be desserts and the coffeehouse does not disappoint with its selections.

Take a pick from a variety of kuih, pastries and cakes and finish it off with tasty beverages.
