SEAFOOD is a definite delight for family dinners and get-togethers.

There is no longer any need to travel far looking for seafood restaurants as there are now many in the Klang Valley, serving the freshest produce one can get without having to visit a seaside town.

One such outlet is the Chatz Brasserie at Parkroyal Kuala Lumpur.

A must-try is the Fried Chilli Crab, which also comes with bamboo clams and cockles, upon request.

The sweet-and-spicy sauce tastes good and the dish goes well with rice.

Those who like Thai flavour can opt for the Thai sauce instead.

The variety of grilled fish such as stingray, dory, local mackerel and white pomfret is also good.

They are grilled to perfection and go well with the variety of sauces served, especially the air asam and the spicy soy sauce.

Chef Mohd Zamani Ravinthren Abdullah said the secret to their mouthwatering grilled fish laid in the marination.

“Our marinade includes honey, curry powder and shallots, among others, for that extra flavour,” he said.

Guests, however, must be prepared to wait a while to savour the grilled fish as the queue is usually long but worth the wait.

Prawn lovers, meanwhile, can have fun fishing out the live tiger prawns from the aquarium and cooking it in the special Chinese herbal stock soup.

As for Japanese food lovers, sashimi and sushi are available.

At the “Seafood on Ice” station, you can get your fair share of prawns, mussels, oysters, scallops and clams to be savoured with soy sauce, among various dips.

There are also seafood dishes such as Chinese-style Spicy Prawns, squid and mussels in sauces.

The menu is rotated periodically to offer variety.

Besides the seafood, local fare such as chicken rice, noodles, murtabak and roti canai are also available.

At the juice bar, a variety of neatly arranged fruits and vegetables are offered.

Guests can choose their favourite combination.

Chatz’s Best of Malaysia: Seafood Buffet Dinner is priced at RM98++ per adult and RM49 ++ per child.
