Buffet spread at Novotel KL features popular dishes from previous years and new specialities.

IF you happen to be in the city centre and want a convenient place to break fast, stop by at Novotel Kuala Lumpur City Centre as its Square Restaurant serves a scrumptious buffet spread.

This time around, hotel executive sous chef Huzaidy Samson and his dedicated team bring back popular dishes from previous years and introduce new specialities.

Themed Selera Kampung, Huzaidy said the buffet features three menus that would be rotated on a daily basis.

In the appetiser section, a variety of salads and ulam-ulam await you. These include spicy spring rolls, assorted salted fish, stuffed beancurd, spicy beef lung, assorted kerabu and fruit rojak, among others.

In the soup section, try the chicken tom yam and mamak mutton soup, as well as thebubur lambuk, which is a traditional delicacy during Ramadan.

An array of tantalising dishes have been prepared at the live action corner. These include chicken and beef satay, roti John (tuna), assorted fritters (made from bananas, tapioca, jackfruit and yam) and marinated ayam perchik, among others.

Huzaidy said they have incorporated Indian, Chinese and Malay dishes to go with some well-known local dishes from the different states in the country.

The popular dishes in the hot items section include steamed white and tomato rice, spicy tomato beef, mutton masala, fish curry kapitan from Penang, Chinese style butter prawn, Malacca fish asam pedas, beef rendang tok, vegetable dhal and stir- fried lady’s fingers with squid.

Make a stop at the dessert corner to indulge in local Malay kuih, assorted cookies, ice-cream with condiments and assorted dates.

In the cold beverages section, try the pink guava asam boi juice, khatirah juice, bandung grapes and honey green tea.

For those who prefer hot beverages, the restaurant also serves kopi tarik and teh tarik.

While other dishes in the menu are on rotation, Huzaidy said the lamb tandoori is a speciality which is served daily.

The Selera Kampung buffet dinner is priced at RM88 nett per adult and RM44 nett per child (eight to 12 years).
