FOR some, Valentine’s Day is not important while others take this opportunity to fete and pamper loved ones.

However, many sometimes are at a loss over how to celebrate the day.

With a ?one-of-a-kind? menu exclusively created by the chefs of Urban@Hotel Istana, they need not fret anymore.

Chef de cuisine Sharusmizal Salleh said he and his team had put in a lot of effort in planning the Valentine’s Day menu.

“Last year, we offered Japanese and European fine dining but this year, we decided to do it the French way but with a local touch,” Sharusmizal said.

Diners will get to sample Amuse Bouche, which literally means “mouth-amuser”.

This interesting dish is served in a bowl shaped like a boat with stuffed zucchini decorated with edible flowers and porcini foam, a delightful start to a meal.

Then comes the starter which is sure to tease the palate as it consists of a creative mix of chilled oriental cucumber with king crab salad, red radish crown, pickled kyuri, wild smoked salmon and horseradish cream served cold.

The entree is another exquisite dish with its Egg Capellini Pasta topped with Creamy Parmesan Cheese and paired with Oyster Flesh, Foie Gras Holland Cress and Truffle.

The chefs have given detailed thought to the intermezzo where a Cold Champagne Sorbet is served for diners to refresh their palate before they enjoy the main course which is specially created to offer the couple different dishes, befitting their gender.

For the lady, the main dish is the Atlantic halibut (a type of fish) paired with Baby Zucchini Tempura, Confit Leek Braised Squid, Razor Clam and Braised Artichoke topped with Chardonnay Emulsion.

For the gentleman, the choice is a Sous Vide Herb Crumb Mandagery Creek Loin of Deer simmered in Red Cabbage Puree with sweet onion jam and accompanied by delicious roots vegetable pumpkin tart “creme brulee” nicely topped off with hazelnut foam and port wine jus.

As for the dessert, an Ivory White Chocolate Parfait topped with Rose Ice Cream is served with Tandoori Ananas marinated with spice chat masala, fennel seed and star anise.

Couples are then served complimentary chocolates at the end of the meal.

Hotel Istana marketing communication manager Zaid Jamaludin said Urban emphasises on the technique and flavour incorporated in its dishes.

“We focus on taste, quality and high standards as Urban is known for its fine world cuisine.”

“Most of the ingredients we use are authentic and exclusive as they are flown in from abroad and despite this, prices are still reasonable,” he added.

The fine dining experience on Valentine?s Day is priced at RM220nett per person.

Taman Sari Brasserie will also be offering couples special promotions on Valentine’s Day.

The BBQ poolside Valentine?s Dinner and Valentine?s Dinner buffet is priced at RM95++ per person.
