IT WAS by chance that Beefy’s Steak on Jalan Telawi, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, came about when restaurant partner Patrick Saw stumbled upon an opportunity for a food outlet.

Saw believed there was something here and collaborated with Backofen Cafe in Desa Sri Hartamas to try out a new concept selling premium steaks at non-premium prices.

He said people often get surprised as they walked into Mango Mania and find them there.

“People know Mango Mania but don’t know that there is also food, cakes and drinks here.

“Most who try do come back as we offer stuff that can be found at expensive restaurants but at a reasonable price,” he said.

Beefy’s Steaks offers a variety of items ranging from sandwiches, and main courses to pastas, salads and even stuffed potatoes.

Their steaks include Sirloin, Rib Eye, T-Bone and Tenderloin cuts that are served with seasonal vegetables and mash or chips.

Patrons can choose from mushroom cream sauce, shallot brown sauce, Dijon mustard sauce or black pepper sauce.

The meat is cooked tenderly to just the right degree, making it very soft and easy to chew.

Saw said the most popular cuts were the Sirloin and Tenderloin as they are leaner.

“The idea is when people walk into Mango Mania, they have the option to have something more for lunch, dinner or supper, suitable for any time of the day.

“So far, the feedback has been very positive these past six months and it is getting busier,” Saw said.

Another must try at Beefy’s Steak is the half-pounder cheeseburger with a home-made patty. The burger is filling but does not leave diners feeling like they had too much.

The secret is in the meat as Beefy’s Steak chooses Topside minced beef that is low in fat.

For those who fancy fish, the Salmon Fishcake will be a pleasant surprise as it comes all crispy and juicy with a lot of salmon.

The salmon is stuffed with a little mash to bind the fishcake with the crunchy outer layer and it is served with garlic mayo, salad and potato salad.

The portion is generous and the salmon goes well with the sauce and mash, making it a complete meal.

Beefy’s Steaks also offers the popular American Sloppy Joe, featuring seasoned ground beef and melted cheese slopped over a toasted bun with baked beans and potato salad.

Sinking into the Western dishes, the Ranch chicken meatloaf, a popular dish of thick sliced meatloaf, sour cream and cranberry sauce, vegetables and potato salad is a generous yet reasonably priced meal.

The selection of pastas includes the usual suspects like spicy aglio olio, bolognaise, carbonara and seafood spaghetti.

Those wanting a more healthy dish can opt for the Caesar salads that come with a generous amount of chicken fillets, crispy beef bacon and the Feta mixed salad.

All in all, Beefy’s Steaks presents wholesome Western-inspired dishes with an option for everyone on its menu at a very resonable price for daily lunch or a family meal.
