IF YOU seriously want to score a cheap meal, the Medan Selera in Jalan Othman, Petaling Jaya is one place worth considering.

This eatery located in the oldest part of the city is well-known for a few things.

First, check out the vinegared pork trotter stalls. There are two here and one of them, located on the right hand side of the row as you enter the hawker centre, is the one worth going for.

Then, there is the Chinese Satay stall. I have heard a lot about this place, but have not tried it yet.

Now, when it comes to Kari Laksa, there is a stall here in the food court which is noteworthy. It is found at stall No. 33 where a bowl of Kari Laksa costs RM4.50 for a small helping.

I must say that the portions and ingredients are very generous.

In the bowl, you will find plenty of raw cockles, taufoo pok, brinjal and chicken.

These are the same ingredients that you would find at the famous Madras Lane stalls off Petaling Street in Kuala Lumpur.

Cheap and good: Stall number 33. What’s missing, however, is the pig’s skin.

But when it comes to taste and quality, this stall dishes out quite a decent fare.

On the Samo-scale, well, I call it at 6 out of 10.

Stall No. 33 is located in the Medan Selera in Jalan Othman, Petaling Jaya.

The GPS coordinates are: N 03 05 249, E 101 38 762.
