Recipe Ingredient

  • Combined
  • 150g black glutinous rice flour
  • 100g glutinous rice flour
  • 75g soft brown sugar
  • 350ml water
  • 200g kou fun (commercial cooked glutinous rice flour), for coating
  • Filling
  • 200g toasted peanuts, finely ground
  • 50g toasted sesame seeds
  • 70g castor sugar


  1. Combine both types of glutinous rice flours. Add in brown sugar and water to mix. Pour into a lightly greased tray and steam over medium heat for 40-45 minutes until cooked through. Remove the tray from steamer and stir with a wooden spoon until mixture is smooth. Leave aside to cool, then remove cooked dough; put into the kou fun. Use a plastic dough cutter to cut dough into equal pieces.
  2. Mix peanuts, sesame seeds and sugar together in a bowl.
  3. Take a piece of dough, wrap around a teaspoon of filling and form into a big ball. Toss into the kou fun and coat evenly. Serve the black lor mai chee balls immediately.
