Recipe Ingredient

  • 60g custard powder
  • 30g corn flour
  • 185g castor sugar
  • 400ml UHT milk
  • 300ml water
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Blend custard powder and corn flour in a bowl. Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a mixing bowl for 3-4 minutes, then stir in flour mixture.
  2. Bring milk and water to near boiling point. Pour the hot milk into the egg and custard mixture, whisking well.
  3. Return mixture to cook over low to medium heat, stirring constantly till mixture takes on a thick consistency. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla essence.
  4. Allow to cool, then cover and refrigerate before use.
