Recipe Ingredient

  • 1 cup Quaker Oat for Rice, rinsed
  • 2 cups fragrant rice, rinsed
  • 100g garlic, peeled and finely sliced
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • 5 cloves
  • 3 star anise
  • 4 cardamom
  • 2 tbsp olive spread
  • 250g roasted cashew nuts
  • 200g fresh green peas
  • 10 small shallots, peeled and finely sliced
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a hot pan, add the olive oil spread and sliced garlic, sauté until garlic is crispy on the edges.
  2. Add the onions and sauté until soft.
  3. Add the spices – cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, cardamom and stir until fragrant.
  4. When fragrant, add in Quaker Oats for Rice and Rice, and stir until well combined.
  5. Pour the rice mixture into the rice cooker.
  6. Add 5 cups water, stir and add salt to taste. Cook as normal.
  7. When half cooked, sprinkle the cashew nuts and green peas on top of the rice.
  8. Once done, give the rice a stir to combine all ingredients and serve.
