Recipe Ingredient

  • Ingredients (A) :
  • 200g freshly-grated white coconut
  • 2 green chilies, seeded and chopped
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1cm ginger, chopped
  • 2 tbsp channa dhal, soaked
  • 1/4 tsp urad dhal, soaked
  • Seasoning :
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp mustard seeds (biji sawi)
  • 2 dried chilies, torn with seeds removed
  • a few curry leaves
  • a pinch of asafoetida powder

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients (A) in a food processor and process into a coarse texture.
  2. Heat oil in a saucepan and fry the seasoning ingredients (except the asafoetida powder) until the mustard seeds start to pop.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and add in the blended coconut mixture and asafoetida powder.
  4. Dish out and serve with thosai or idli.
