Recipe Ingredient

  • 1 ikan patin
  • 1 old Chinese cucumber (timun tua), remove seeds and cut into pieces
  • Pound:
  • 20 sen worth of cilipadi
  • 3 chillies
  • 5 shallots
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2.5cm fresh turmeric
  • 4 tbsp tempoyak (fermented durian paste, available from pasar tani or supermarkets)
  • 4 sprigs daun kesum
  • 2 stalks serai, smashed
  • 2 bunga kantan
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • Salt and sugar to taste

Instructions

  1. Fry pounded ingredients. Add daun kesum, serai, bunga kantan and enough water for gravy. Cook till gravy thickens.
  2. Add fish and old cucumber. Season with salt and sugar. Lower heat and simmer till fish and cucumber are cooked.
