Recipe Ingredient

  • 1 kg spareribs
  • Marinade
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 1 tbsp cooking wine
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • ¾ tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • ¼ cup water
  • Sauce ingredients
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice from 2 lemons
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 150 ml water

Instructions

  1. Rinse spareribs well and chop into 3cm lengths. Combine spareribs with marinade ingredients in an airtight container and leave in the refrigerator to marinate overnight.
  2. Drain the spareribs in a plastic colander, then deep-fry them in a wok of hot oil until golden brown. Remove the spareribs and drain well.
  3. Cook the sauce ingredients in a clean wok. Once it starts to boil, add the pre-fried spareribs. Cook until sauce is thick and the meat is well coated with the sauce.
  4. Serve immediately.
