Recipe Ingredient

  • 1 tbsp suit karp
  • 1 thin slice ginger
  • 18 pieces ginkgo nuts, shelled
  • 1 tbsp sweet almonds (lure hung), washed and drained
  • 1/2 tbsp bitter almonds (pak hung), washed and drained
  • 4 red dates, pitted and halved
  • 75g rock sugar
  • 500ml water

Instructions

  1. Soak suit karp for two hours and pick clean. Wash and drain well. Boil in clean water with ginger for five minutes. Drain and set aside. Discard the ginger.
  2. Put suit karp, red dates, almonds, ginkgo nuts and rock sugar in a double boiler. Add hot water, cover and double boil for two hours over low flame. Serve hot or chilled.
