Green Peas Sweet Porridge with Durian
300g green peas, washed and soaked for several hours
2 litres water
3 screwpine leaves, knotted
50g palm sugar (gula Melaka), chopped
350ml thick coconut milk
½ tsp salt
6-7 seeds durian flesh
Put green peas and water into a large deep pot. Bring to the boil then reduce the heat and cook until the green peas are soft.
Add sugar, palm sugar and salt to taste. Stir in thick coconut milk and bring to just a boil. Remove from the heat and add durian flesh. Serve hot.
