IF A 10-hour feast sounds like an ideal way to celebrate Christmas, Parkroyal Kuala Lumpur is the place to be on Dec 25.

Its Chatz Brasserie will be offering a marathon buffet from noon to 10pm for those who are in town during the festival.

Available at RM88++ per adult and RM44++ per child, close to 100 starters, main dishes and desserts will be served.

And the best part is, there is no limit to the number of visits a diner wish to return to enjoy the buffet throughout the 10 hours, as long as they book the next slot with the restaurant.

In a recent sneak peek of the buffet, we sampled Hawaiian Chicken Pineapple Salad, Turkey Loaf Roall with Mandarin Orange Salad, Tenderloin Pate Platter, Smoked Duck Breast with Orange Coriander Salad and Potato Salad as starters.

Topping the extensive list of the main dishes was none other than Roast Turkey with Chestnut and Onion Sage Stuffing served with Natural Glaze and Cranberry Sauce, to be enjoyed with Buttered Brussels Sprouts.

Parkroyal Kuala Lumpur executive chef Gary Lim was exceptionally proud of the dish.

“We marinate the birds overnight with our special marinade and then roast them for one-and-a-half hours in our combi oven.

“The roast and steam function is used to keep the birds moist,” he said.

The turkeys are imported from Australia and chef Lim expects to serve eight to 10 birds that day.

Roast Lamb Leg, Venison Stew with Celeriac and a selection of local and Western delights are examples of other main dishes available.

“We braise mirepoix and venison for three to four hours, and then add in celeriac to cover the gamey smell of the meat,” chef Lim explained on the preparation of the venison stew.

For desserts, the must-haves were Christmas pudding, Christmas cookies, stollen, fruit cake and ginger bread.

In addition to this marathon buffet, there is a Merry Christmas Eve buffet dinner on Dec 24 from 7pm to 10.30pm. It is priced at RM98++ per adult (inclusive of a glass of Christmas cocktail or mocktail) and RM49++ per child.

Whole turkeys are also available at RM390+ each and a two-day advance booking is needed.
