Prepared by Parkroyal sous chef M. Maniam, customers will be able to savour some of the dishes their mothers or grandmothers would have prepared at home.

“There are nine main courses that will be rotated every day. These main courses will be authentic Malay dishes with a few of them having a Nyonya touch to it,” said Maniam.

Among the delectable fish dishes not to be missed is the Sembilang Sambal Tumis or Salt Water Catfish Cooked in Sauteed Chilli Paste.

“This dish will definitely have you craving for more if you are a fan of spicy food,” he said.

Another dish to look out for is the Ikan Duri Masak Berlada or catfish cooked in chilli which is a traditional Malay dish as well as the Otak-Otak Rambo.

Other authentic dishes recommended by Maniam are the Burung Puyuh Goreng Berempah Kampung Kuala Pilah or Kampung Kuala Pilah Spiced Fried Quail, Patin Gulai Tempoyak, Ketam Borlado Nogeri and Daging Bahmia.

“These dishes are typical of homemade and authentic local dishes that our parents or grandmothers prepared at home,” said Maniam.

For those who are a little more adventurous, get a taste of their Rendang Paru and Hati or Ox liver and Lungs Spicy Curry as well as the Kerutub Itik.

“There are not many dishes in Malay cuisine that uses duck. The Kerutub Itik is one of them. Those who like duck should not miss this dish,” he said, adding that some of the dishes were featured at the hotel’s Chatz Brasserie.
