HAVE a marvellous time with family and friends at Parkroyal Kuala Lumpur this Chinese New Year as a variety of sumptuous feasts await you at the Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant.

Chef Chew Chee Kuong, in bringing the auspicious period to light, has specially prepared six types of authentic set menus that would tease the taste buds of the ones you host during this auspicious occasion.

To mark the beginning of a prosperous New Year, chef Chew takes the approach in introducing the restaurant’s speciality — Prosperity Yee Sang creations. Try the Tropical Fruits Yee Sang, which is the signature dish.

This beautiful dish consists of eight different types of fruits such as d

ragon fruit, pomelo, orange and strawberries among others.

If seafood is your choice, then opt for favourites such as abalone, superior shark’s fin, Pacific clams, soft shell crab, salmon, jellyfish or even yellow fin tuna, which are delicately prepared with your choice of concocted sauce, which includes sour plum sauce enhanced with fruit flavour, spicy plum sauce with mango or the traditional sour plum sauce.

Under the soup category, try the Braised Mini Shark’s Fin with Sea Treasure in Butter Cream Superior Stock, Braised Shark’s Fin Soup with Fish Maw, Sea Cucumber and Fish Lips, and Double-Boiled Mini Supreme Shark’s Fin Soup, Sliced Abalone with Black Chicken, Dry Scallop and Fish Maw among others.

The Steamed Fried Spring Chicken with Chinese Herbs and Sea Moss is a must-try.

This dish is absolutely special as the chicken is fried to perfection to give it colour and then steamed with herbal stock, making the meat tender and succulent.

Another option in the hot selection category is the Steamed Chicken with Sichuan Pepper and Chilli.

Under the hot selection, the Butter Prawn with Fragile Oatmeal is a sumptuous dish, as the concoction of crispy oatmeal and special sauce is perfect for such occasions.

Another speciality of chef Chew is the Wok Baked Sea Grouper Fish with Lao Gan Ma (a special sauce imported from China) and Sichuan Chilli Bean Paste or try the Braised Sea Cucumber, Fish Maw with Black Mushrooms and Dried Oyster.

Where tea is concerned, try the Eight Treasure Tea, which has a combination of jasmine leaves, chrysanthemums, wolfberries and longan. Not only is it refreshing, the tea is said to have added health benefits.

As usual, every course ends with rice and here, you can have a variety of options such as Fried Rice with Chicken Sausage, Fried Rice with Seafood and Dried Scallops or the Sweet Bean Paste Fried Rice with Silver Anchovies.

Under the dessert category, try the Hot Sweetened Red Bean Puree with Glutinous Rice Dumpling, Glutinous Rice Dumpling Filled with Candied Ginger, Deep-fried Sweetened Almond with Glutinous Rice Dumpling and Chilled Mango and Chestnut with White Fungus and Sago.

For a table of 10 persons, the restaurant offers the Prosperity, Fortune and Wealth set menus priced from RM998++ onwards.

However, it also caters for table of four and six persons at RM688++ and RM888++ respectively.

The health conscious diners or those who are vegetarians are not forgotten, as there is a vegetarian set menu at RM898++ for 10 persons.

Yee sang and set menus are available daily. The promotion ends Feb 5.

The hotel’s all day dining restaurant Chatz Brasserie will also offer a lavish spread priced at RM59++ per person on Jan 23 and 24 from noon to 4pm.
