Enjoy authentic Italian food prepared with core ingredients imported from Italy at Urbano e Fresco in Solaris Mont Kiara.

The business development director Simone Coletta said the pizza and pasta experts were the Italians, and here guests could enjoy the “real” deal.

“Urbano” meant urban and “Fresco” meant fresh in Italian.

The restaurant hoped to serve urbanities freshly prepared Italian food at an affordable price.

“Our food is of high quality and is value for money, We use the finest ingredients which enable diners to savour the taste of the food.

“Locals here are used to the American version of fast food pizzas which tastes vastly different from the original Italian pizza,” said Coletta, an Italian.

To ensure the freshness of the product, ingredients such as the mozzarella is kept no longer than a week from the date of purchase.

The oil and the flour used are also specially imported from Italy.

To ensure freshness, most vegetables used for cooking are sourced from Cameron Highlands.

Coletta said the dishes served at the restaurant were pork free and there were several items on the menu specially catered for vegetarians.

“Pork is an important ingredient in most Italian dishes but our dishes are prepared using poultry and seafood,” said Coletta.

Based on his observation, Malaysians, especially the Chinese, preferred stronger flavours from vegetables such as mushrooms.

He said locals enjoyed pineapple on their pizza and it was not a common ingredient used in Italian pizza.

“Since most guests request for pineapple on their pizza we have included it on our menu,” he said.

First-timers at the restaurant can kickstart their Italian meal with bruschetta, which is prepared using toasted Panini and extra-virgin olive oil, garlic, fresh tomatoes, onions and fresh basil leaves.

Those who are keen in trying something else can order the Bruschetta Sauteed Prawns. This dish is prepared with tiger prawns, extra virgin olive oil, chilli and garlic.

As for the salad try the Spinaci. This salad is prepared using baby spinach, feta cheese, strawberries and almond flakes with balsamic vinegar dressing.

Among the best selling pizza at the restaurant is the Margherita pizza which contains the restaurant’s signature tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, basil and three toppings such as beef strip or seafood.

The restaurant serves close to 15 types of pizza which come in three sizes – nine inches, 12 inches and 15 inches – for guests to choose from.

As for the pasta dish, the Marinara tops as customers’ favourite.

Best-seller: The Marinara is the restaurant’s most popular pasta dish, prepared with seafood with creamy basil pesto and Parmesan.

The dish is prepared with generous portion of seafood with creamy basil pesto and Parmesan.

The breaded chicken dish, called the Chicken Milanese, is another popular dish at the restaurant.

This dish, which is less oily, is served with rocket salad, cherry tomatoes and shaved Parmesan with mushroom or mustard sauce.

The Stinco di Agnello – the oven baked lamb shank with mash potato, cherry tomato is for those hungry for a hearty meal.

The restaurant serves a limited number of desserts which includes Tiramisu and Creme Brulee.
