SWISS Garden Hotel’s head chef Wong Yean Loong is planning to stick to popular Chinese New Year dishes for the hotel’s dinner buffet spread this festive season.

“There is nothing too fancy that will confuse our guests. We want them to try what the Chinese usually look out for when celebrating the New Year,

“There are certain dishes, including seafood, that have to be served like fatt choy, sea cucumber, black oyster, abalone, prawn and fish as they all signify different meaning to the New Year such as prosperity and good luck,” he said.

The 37-year-old chef added that the Chinese believed that by consuming any of the prosperity dishes, one would have a good start to the New Year.

Wong together with his team have come up with dishes like Garlic Chili Prawn, Fried Rice with Abalone sauce, Steam Fish with Black Fungus, Braised Seafood with Oyster, Mixed Seafood on Ice, Fried Flower Crab with Crispy Chili and Baked Sliced Lobster with Garlic which will be served to patrons this Chinese New Year.

They have also included a few Malay and Western dishes to the buffet line such as Assam Laksa, Ikan Assam Pedas, Salmon Curry Fish Head, Beef Rendang and Spaghetti Carbonara.

For dessert, a selection of local kuih, cakes, Bubur Gandum, Bread Pudding, Ling Chee Kang and Yam Ling Koh are available.

The buffet will also have popular Chinese New Year Yee Sang with Jellyfish.

Those who plan to pack the yee sang home can do so as the restaurant is offering the Yee Sang with Salmon priced at RM48++ (small) and RM 78++ (large) while the Yee Sang with Jellyfish is priced at RM38++ (small) and RM58++(large). Takeway is only available from noon onwards.

The Chinese New Year buffet dinner is priced at RM68++ (adult) and RM38++(child).

The yee sang promotion and the Chinese New Year buffet dinner is available till Feb 17 from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
