A time for joyous reunions, Mid-Autumn Festival at Lai Po Heen offers a myriad of innovative mooncake flavours. From sinful chocolate mooncakes to all-time classic favourites, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur’s mooncakes are available from now until 1 October 2020.

Encases six mooncakes, the red 3-tier box with gold lining embellished with Mandarin Oriental’s signature fan exudes elegance while paying homage to the rich traditional Chinese culture. These Mandarin Oriental boxes are ideal for guests to express their heartfelt wishes to business associates, friends and family.

Lai Po Heen’s Halal-certified traditional baked mooncakes make the perfect gift to Muslim friends and business partners. The line-up includes Mixed nuts; Lotus paste with single yolk; Pandan flavour with single yolk; Durian paste with melon seed and Red bean paste with melon seed. For those who prefer a healthier option, the Low sugar white lotus paste mooncake is a perfect option. A less sweet sugar Mycose, commonly known as mushroom sugar, is a one fourth substitute to standard sugar in this mooncake.

Indulge in a brand-new collection of Mandarin Oriental’s famous Chocolate Mooncakes. Each year, the pastry team creates new chocolate combinations for the annual festival. Malaysian single origin dark chocolate with crunchy pearls, dark chocolate cream & gold leaf and Malaysian single origin milk chocolate caramel sesame, hazelnut gianduja & jasmine tea ganache are made with locally sourced cocoa beans from Pahang. The Red berry chocolate, strawberry Crémeux, coconut and almond praline is an alternative for the fruit lovers.

The Snowskin Mooncakes collection includes all-time favourite Musang king durian; Salted egg custard paste and Cheese with strawberry & white lotus paste. The snowskin has a mochi-like texture, softer than the years before. The newly debuted Cheese with strawberry & white lotus paste was inspired by The Mandarin Cake Shop’s homemade strawberry jam. Ms. Jane Lee, the Restaurant Manager, suggested a fusion between the East & the West. The mooncake was then curated to perfection by Dim Sum Chef, Chef Wu Chee Hong. For the Musang king durian mooncake, the paste is made with pure durian flesh. Approximately 80g of durian paste is extracted for each mooncake, moulded into a round shape and placed in a freezer for four hours before being delicately wrapped with snowskin.

Special Edition Mooncakes features Golden moon – lotus paste with single yolk and Golden moon – Pandan flavour with single yolk. These mooncakes flavours have been the best-selling items for years, as Pandan and lotus are authentic Malaysian favourites. To commemorate the all-time favourites, each mooncake is intricately sprayed with edible gold dust, an elegant and refined finish to the mooncakes.
