- 1 big mature blade aloe vera
- 6 pieces bamboo pith, soaked and ends trimmed
- 10g dried longan
- 150g rock sugar
- 2 scewpine leaves, knotted
- 1.2 litres water
- Skin the aloe vera and cut into cubes. Wash off the slimy gel and soak in water for 5-10 minutes.
- Bring water to a boil in a pot. Add aloe vera, bamboo pith and the rest of the ingredients, and bring to a boil.
- Simmer for 35-40 minutes. Discard the screwpine leaves. Serve hot or cold.
