Recipe Ingredient

  • 1 big mature blade aloe vera
  • 6 pieces bamboo pith, soaked and ends trimmed
  • 10g dried longan
  • 150g rock sugar
  • 2 scewpine leaves, knotted
  • 1.2 litres water


  1. Skin the aloe vera and cut into cubes. Wash off the slimy gel and soak in water for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Bring water to a boil in a pot. Add aloe vera, bamboo pith and the rest of the ingredients, and bring to a boil.
  3. Simmer for 35-40 minutes. Discard the screwpine leaves. Serve hot or cold.
