Recipe Ingredient

  • 40g black beans
  • 40g black-eyed beans, soaked for two to three hours or until beans puff up slightly
  • 2 chicken thighs, cut into big pieces
  • 5 red dates
  • 1 litre water
  • Seasoning:
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Maggi chicken stock granules


  1. Place all the ingredients, except seasoning, into a double boiler pot.
  2. Bring water to a boil and steam over simmering water for one to two hours or until both types of beans are tender.
  3. Add seasoning and serve hot.
