One day‚ a brave archer named Hou Yi succeeded in shooting down nine suns‚ leaving just one in the sky.
就在那时民间出现了一位弓箭手——后羿，他成功地用弓箭将九颗太阳射下来，只留下了一颗太阳在天上。
As a reward for his heroic efforts‚ the Queen of the Heavens rewarded him with an elixir of immortality. He and his wife Chang’e planned to drink it together on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.
王母娘娘因此赐给后羿一颗吃了能长生不老的仙丹，以奖励他的英勇行为；后羿与妻子嫦娥决定在农历八月十五一起吃这颗仙丹。
When Hou Yi was out hunting on the 15th day‚ his apprentice invaded their home and forced Chang’e to surrender the elixir. She refused and drank it all instead.
到了八月十五，后羿的学徒趁他出门打猎之际，潜入他的家逼迫嫦娥交出仙丹。嫦娥为了阻止仙丹落在学徒的手中便把仙丹都给吞下了。
The elixir caused her to rise towards the heavens‚ but she settled on the moon as it was closest to her beloved Hou Yi.
嫦娥吃了仙丹以后，身体便慢慢地浮起来飘向天空。之后嫦娥决定降落在月亮上，因为那里是最靠近后羿的地方。
Her husband‚ stricken with grief‚ will put out fruits and cakes to her on the day of her departure.
后羿非常的伤心，此后每年的八月十五他都会以水果和糕点遥记嫦娥。
