THE Bridge Grill atop the colonial-era Loke Thye Kee Building in George Town, Penang, serves great food and drinks to go with amazing views of the city.

Strategically located near the iconic Komtar tower, the building, which is more than 80 years old, has a breezy ambience ideally suited for laid-back parties or functions.

From birthday parties to corporate gatherings and networking nights, any event is possible with The Bridge Grill’s flexible menu and setups which can be tailored to the client’s budget.

The restaurant has both covered and al fresco sections, and is capable of accommodating up to 50 people.

For daily dining, it offers a compact a la carte menu with mostly Western fare coupled with some local elements.

The lineup was recently expanded, and now features starters like Prawn Rolls with Crustaceans delicately wrapped with shitake mushrooms and scallions, to go with a house dip.

Equally healthy is the Chicken and Mango Salad, comprising fresh greens, poultry and slices of the local fruit, paired with sweet chilli vinaigrette.

Other snacks like the Peri Peri Potato Wedges, Tostada, and Salt and Pepper Squid are great to go with some drinks and good company.

The Bridge Grill, which previously served only barbeque items, now also has a selection of pastas like Seafood Aglio with olive oil and basil, and the Salmon and Mushroom Tagliatelle with cream sauce.

One can also try the breaded Chilli Fish paired with spaghetti and doused in spicy oriental sauce.

Vegetarians are catered to with the Potato Gnocchi Arrabiata and Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms.

The grill selection is still popular, with crowd favourites like Lamb Short Ribs still going strong. Paired with sauteed green beans and cheese-stuffed potato, it makes a hearty main dish.

Poultry lovers should like the Chicken Oscar (top pic), a breast cut complemented by scallops and tiger prawns.

Diners can also go for the pan-fried Lemon Seabass and Sirloin Steak.

Peppercorn, Bearnaise and Cream sauces are the available condiments for the grilled items.

For desserts, there is Tropical Fruit Fondue, Banana Split, and ‘Make your Own’ Sundaes.
