Hotel plates up a plethora of seafood for its special buffet.

It is that time of the year when hotels in Kuala Lumpur bring the best catch from the sea to the dining table and Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur is doing just that with Oceans 11.

With no reference to the 2001 Hollywood film of the same name, Grand Millennium’s Oceans 11 Seafood Buffet Dinner at The Mill adds 11 types of prized seafood to their buffet line for a limited time only.

Executive chef Laurent Lherisson and his team will be providing the finest and freshest selection of seafood to diners in addition to their usual line-up of international cuisine.

After being greeted by warm and hospitable staff, the next sight to greet the diners’ eyes is the seafood on ice.

Seafood lovers can take delight in their selection of fresh seafood consisting of two varieties of crab, yabbies, green and black mussels, oysters, tiger prawns, clams, cockles, scallops and slipper lobsters.

Though I am no seafood connoisseur, I could appreciate how fresh the crabs, mussels and scallops were.

For those who shy away from raw seafood, they can take the seafood of their choice to the grilling station where a chef will have it cooked a la minute.

Though the recommended cooking method is to have it grilled, diners may also request for their food to be seared, stewed in green curry or tomato sauce, poached, sauteed with garlic and chili oil, deep fried (with or without batter) or even oven-baked with garlic butter.

In addition to the seafood buffet selection and their regular buffet offerings, diners may pay an additional special price to order a premium Boston Lobster Thermidor (top pic).

Rather than removing and dicing the lobster meat, the meat in this Lobster Thermidor is left intact and gratinated in a creamy cheese sauce, served with salad and rice.

The Lobster Thermidor clearly outshines everything offered in the buffet, though its large portion indicates that it is a dish that ought to be shared by two to three people.

The seafood buffet promotion is only available for dinner between 7pm and 10pm every Friday and Saturday until Dec 13.

Diners can enjoy the seafood buffet promotion at RM138++ per adult and RM69++ per child. Buffet diners can also order a Boston Lobster Thermidor for an additional RM108++.

Diners may also enjoy a free flow of chilled juices at RM15.00++ and a free flow of the restaurant’s selection of red and white wine for RM48.00++.

The Mill Café is pork-free and does not use alcohol in its dishes. All of the restaurant’s food suppliers are required to have a halal certification.
