Its original restaurant in Hong Kong is famous for its hugely popular Pei Foong Thong or “Typhoon Shelter” crab delicacy known for its distinctive taste enhanced with garlic and chilli.

Foodies who have been craving for this dish can now enjoy this spicy delicacy complete with a generous garnishing of fried garlic, onion, shallot and spring onion at its first overseas outlet, located in Desa Sri Hartamas.

Once a fishing village, Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay is now a densely populated area and a famed shopping district.

The many boats that were once moored here were home to the hardy fishing community, and the residents, known as the Tanka (boat people) developed their own distinct cooking style and delicacies.

Hence, the distinctive “typhoon shelter” style of cooking features “heavy” marinade, deep-fried meat, strong aroma and heady flavours – a result of the limited facilities on the boats.

Hailing from this distinct heritage, the head chef at the restaurant has been wowing customers with the wonderful flavours and tastes of Tanka delicacies.

To ensure a dining experience as close to that of the original Hong Kong restaurant, local chefs have been painstakingly trained by the head chef to produce authentic Tanka dishes.

Signature dishes at the restaurant include Golden Crispy Beancurd that is crisp on the outside but soft on the inside with a melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Not to be missed is the honey garlic fried pork ribs with a sweet and sticky sauce that oozes flavour.

For those with a milder palate, the baked crab in salted egg yolk and steamed crab in Chinese wine and egg white will be perfectly delicious.
