Swez Brasserie has rolled out a tantalising buffet spread in conjunction with Ramadan.

Themed “Lagenda Sudirman”, the promotion is jointly organised with the National Archives of Malaysia to promote the golden years of music, art and culture of Malaysia, as well as to pay tribute to the late Datuk Sudirman Arshad.

This year, the buffet dinner features more than 200 varieties of authentic local favourites, Western cuisine as well as food from the Middle East and Japan.

The legendary singer?s favourite dishes are also being served during the month-long promotion, including Ikan Patin Masak Lemak Tempoyak, Sambal Ikan Bilis Petai, Pais Ketam Bunga, Nasi Arab and Kambing Panggang.

Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak is popular dish from PahangRamadan buffet review - Lagenda Sudirman at Swez Brasserie, Eastin Hotel.

In addition to four of these five dishes, we were also served other dishes that make up a truly hearty Malay meal.

The Nasi Arab was slightly moist with reddish tints; slightly different from that served in most restaurants but it went well with the Kambing Panggang, which was slightly crispy on the outside but tender on the inside.

Those who enjoy spicy food will like the Masak Lemak Telur Itik and Ayam Masak Kicap. These two were not as spicy as the ones served in restaurants that specialise in Negri Sembilan cuisine but the masak lemak gravy is thick with coconut milk and the duck eggs were cooked just right. The Ayam Masak Kicap was also tasty.

Even more Malay-like was the Rendang Limpa, Hati dan Daging, which was rich and full of flavour. If you are not a fan of offal dishes, you might want to give this a miss as the sauce that covers the meat makes it a bit hard for diners to differentiate the spleen (limpa) and liver (hati) from the beef.

We were also served Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak, a dish popular in Pahang. I have sampled this dish in Temerloh and personally, I think it cannot compare to the one I had in the past, but all in all, the dish was still tasty.

Hearty dish: The Nasi Arab and Kambing Panggang.

My personal favourite was the Ikan Siakap Goreng Acar Jambu ? crispy fried fish lightly covered in a sauce that is slightly spicy (from the generous amount of chillies used) and sweet, from the crunchy and juicy jambu (Eugenia aquea).

To complement the savoury dishes were the Kerabu 2 Jenis (Kerabu Mangga and Kerabu Kacang Botol) as well as the raw ulam-ulaman, which were simply refreshing and delicious.

We finished our meal with some delightful dessert, including Cendol Jelly Pandan, which was a creative twist on the local favourite. Although there was no coconut milk, we could still taste the cendol, which had been cleverly made into jelly. We also sampled the delicious and filling Kek Batik, which had been cut into small pieces.

Apart from these, the buffet line included other exquisite desserts such as rainbow sago, pengat pisang, bubur durian, bubur jagung, durian macaroons and ?goreng-goreng? delights, among others.

This delectable spread is available until Aug 7 and is priced at RM110++ per adult and RM55++ per child.
