THOUGH relatively new to the food and beverage scene in Klang, The Chopsticks at Centro Mall, has already built up a steady following among the local working crowd, families and youths.

It is easy to see the restaurant’s appeal, with its contemporary decor and menu featuring a variety of local and Hong Kong fusion style dishes.

Restaurant and catering manager Jovie Boey said The Chopsticks was created by its owners at Inspiration Catering and Event (M) Sdn Bhd as a place for diners to meet and share over a nice meal.

The Chopsticks’ extensive menu is the result of a collaboration between its three chefs — Tan Hong, Au Yeong Leong and head chef Troy Wong — who derive their inspiration from places like Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan where they received training.

Wong said the restaurant has an a la carte menu, breakfast and lunch set deals, a weekly menu highlighting some special dishes for the week, as well as a seasonal promotion incorporating influences from seasonal ingredients and the four seasons.

“Besides introducing one-off dishes, we also include items that have a large demand from our customers into our weekly specials, like Cheese Baked Rice or Curry Noodles,” he said.

Diners should look out for the unique Char Kuey Teow with Assorted Eggs — a house speciality that is cooked with three kinds of eggs — chicken, preserved and salted, and the tangy Tomato in Plum Sauce appetiser.

The Char Kuey Teow, Lam Mee (cooked Hong Kong style) served with assorted toppings, and Hong Kong style sweet and sour chicken with steamed rice are among the popular dishes.

The Chopsticks’ speciality drinks are variations of coffee and tea like White Coffee, Xi Mut Milk Tea, Milk Tea, Cham and Mocha beverages (served cold or hot).

The more health-conscious diners can opt for Wellness Drinks like fresh fruits mixed with Yakult cultured milk, Homemade Juices using a mix of fruit and vegetable combinations, and Homemade Soya Milk.
