ONE of the pleasures of life is most certainly tucking into a hearty, delicious, wholesome meal.

And one of the best places to have this meal is at the STG Boutique Cafe @ Old Town, Ipoh, be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner or tea, or anytime in between.

With a menu that has offerings to whet any appetite and meet any culinary desire, this is a cafe after the foodie’s heart.

Their English Breakfast is an enticing serving of two eggs over-easy, sausage, ham, baked beans and a croissant. Sounds simple enough, but the presentation makes it a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.

If not the English Breakfast, how about the Smoked Salmon Sandwich which can be had in either a croissant or focaccia bread. Either one is equally tempting with the smoked salmon and tangy salad accompaniment.

This makes a filling yet light meal, and even those on a diet can find no fault with it.

As for lunch, the rib-eye steak and tea-smoked whole chicken leg (top pic)are good options.

The steak is cooked to perfection with just a touch of black pepper and not overpowered by the seasoning or sauce.

It goes perfectly with the tangy green apples, zucchini and mashed potatoes that come along with it.

For tea lovers, the chicken infused with the subtle flavour of tea would be a good choice. This is an offering of tender chicken, accompanied by a savoury sauce and alfalfa and potatoes.

Additionally, one must never forget the lamb shank in the menu. STG’s version is so succulent that the meat falls off the bone and melts in the mouth. With the pumpkin puree and ratatouille, it is one of the best in town.

For a bit of carbs, go for the pesto chicken served with spaghetti. The chicken coated in homemade basil pesto is light and filling, and takes away the guilt of not having any vegetables with the meal. One could also order a salad to go with the dish for that additional serving of greens.

When it comes to dessert, one will be spoilt for choice at STG. Look out for the tiramisu made with kahlua. Rich and sweet, and full of coffee and chocolatey goodness, this is tiramisu at its best.

Each and every one of the temptingly delightful servings mentioned are served throughout the day.

And on top of that, one can also have afternoon tea English style and order the two-tier set comprising cucumber, ham and egg finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with strawberry jam and cream, miniature desserts, assorted cakes and macaroons.

STG is one of the must-try eateries in Ipoh where one would get great food in a cosy, comfortable surrounding right in the heart of the city.
