NOTHING draws customers more than a special promotion on a restaurant’s most sought-after dishes.

Tony Roma’s franchises in the Klang Valley are doing just that with its special Farmers Market promotion.

The restaurant’s third promotion this year is adapted from the one in the United States, which celebrates the use of fresh flavours for meals.

Tony Roma’s marketing manager Johnny Pan said in the US, restaurants engage local farmers for fresh ingredients and livestock to produce their meals, hence the name Farmers Market.

The globally recognised restaurant for premier ribs, seafood and steaks is putting its best dishes forward, with meals divided into ‘market samplings’, entrees and a selection of thirst-quenching drinks.

During a media review, we sampled the BBQ Shrimp Tacos (top pic), which is definitely an addictive starter.

I quite liked the crunch of the taco with the sweet taste of fresh shrimps.

Though it is good to have some greens in your food, this one had vegetables that were a little bitter for my liking.

Portions at Tony Roma’s are huge, making them perfect for sharing.

The Farmers Market promotion invites all patrons to try as many dishes as possible, but share them with your group of friends.

Those who do not fancy beef or lamb ribs, can opt for the somewhat healthy choice of Green Goddess Salad.

The salad comes with grilled chicken, Romaine lettuce, Green Goddess dressing, cherry tomatoes, avocado, red radish, edamame, sliced almonds, cucumbers and croutons.

At RM24.90, the salad is enough to share with a group of four, making it well worth the price.

The entrees include Salmon with Lemon Pesto Shrimp for seafood lovers and a treat for beef lovers, the Fillet Medallions and Black Pepper Beef Ribs Combo. Both are served with sides.

I liked the Salmon paired with Yellow Saffron Rice, which was priced at RM55.90 for a thick piece of salmon with shrimp and broccoli.

Before taking a bite, squeezing lemon on the salmon will give it added taste and ensure that the salmon is not too dry.

The salmon would have been better with a little gravy, possibly cream sauce, to go with.

The ribs are the reason customers visit Tony Roma’s and they certainly do not disappoint with their offering in this menu.

Meat lovers can enjoy a plate of Filet Medallions and Black Pepper Beef Ribs Combo.

It comes with barbequed onions, mashed potatoes and broccoli for RM83.90.

Cool finish: Quench your thirst with Tony Roma’s Romarita, which comes in three exciting flavours.

It is a heavy meal to have on its own, so it is best shared.

You will find that this dish, does not have a strong taste of black pepper but you will taste the spice.

The medallions and beef ribs were tender and juicy and what made it even better was pairing it with the generous amount of mash potatoes, which I could not get enough of.

As a sweet ending to your meal, try the drink choices, including the popular tart and sweet Strawberry Romarita, the adventurous mix of Mango Romarita or fresh tasting Wild Berry Romarita.
