The month-long period is also the time when restaurants and hotels roll out extensive buka puasa buffet menus for their guests, Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

Executive sous chef Shah Eran Nasruddin and his team have prepared a sumptuous spread of kampung-style fare that will tempt even fussy eaters.

Shah has also come up with seven different menus for each day of the week to ensure repeat guests will have something new to look forward to.

“Highlights include Ayam Panggang Bersos Percik (grilled chicken with a spicy marinade), Ketam Goreng Berempah (spicy stir-fried crab), Ikan Masak Lemak Minang (fish cooked in a Minang-style coconut-based curry) and Gulai Udang Nyonya (Nyonya-style prawn curry).

“We also have Chinese, Indian and Western-style dishes daily for those who are not accustomed to kampung-style fare,” he said.

Makeshift stalls doling out freshly-prepared food including satay, noodles and desserts are set up at the restaurant’s premises during the buffet.

Shah said the roast lamb, a Ramadan favourite, was featured daily on the buffet menu.

“With so much on offer, now is a good time to treat your family and friends to a buka puasa meal,” he said.
