KITCHEN is not only a place where you prepare food but it is also a place where you can find simple ingredients to feed your skin.

Since face masks can be quite pricey, why not make them yourself at home for so much less. Different types of food have different types of natural remedies that are good for your skin, no matter what your skin condition is.

Here are five easy DIY food masks that you can try:

1. Honey Face Mask

Do you have a few drops of honey left in your pantry but don’t know what to do with it? This mask can help reduce acne scars.

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Mix all the ingredients together and apply thick layers of it on your face. Let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes then rinse it off with warm water.

2. Avocado Face Mask

Avocado

Avocado helps reduce swelling and redness on your face. At the same time, it moisturises your face, which makes it perfect for dry skin.

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1 tbsp yogurt
  • Few drops of lemon juice

Mash the avocado until it becomes a paste and then add a few drops of lemon juice. The lemon juice prevents the avocado from turning brown. Next, add the yogurt and mix well until you get a smooth consistency. Apply it on your face for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse off.

3. Turmeric Face Mask

Turmeric

Turmeric acts as a natural antioxidant and slows down cell damage. It is good for exfoliating your skin, giving you a radiant skin.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • Few drops of honey

Mix all the ingredients well until it becomes a paste. Then, apply it on your face for 20 minutes until it is dry. Rinse well afterwards.

4. Baking Soda Face Mask

Baking soda

Baking soda is a natural remedy to clear breakouts and blackheads, keeping our pores clean and tight.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Stir both baking soda and lemon juice together. Apply it gently on your face for 20 minutes then rinse off well.

5. Egg Face Mask

Egg whites

Make this mask to finish up any excess egg whites you have from baking. It helps brighten your face, refine your pores to reduce breakouts and provide a natural face lift.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 egg white

Beat the egg whites until it becomes foamy. Apply it on your face for 15 minutes until you start to feel your skin tighten. Then, rinse it off and moisturise as usual.
