Recipe Ingredient

  • (A):
  • 245g soft brown sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 150g melted butter
  • 180ml milk
  • (B):
  • 120g high-protein flour
  • 90g superfine flour
  • 1 tbsp custard powder
  • 1 tbsp double-action baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda


  1. Whisk eggs, soft brown sugar and vanilla essence until light and fluffy. Sift in ingredients (B) and stir well to mix until evenly combined.
  2. Add melted butter and milk gradually. Stir until well mixed and free from lumps.
  3. Transfer batter to a 22cm round tin lined with grease proof paper. Steam over high heat for 40-45 minutes until well risen.
