Recipe Ingredient

  • 130g butter
  • 180g soft brown sugar
  • 80g honey
  • 175g self-raising flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 100g wholemeal flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 100g chopped walnuts
  • 50g sultanas


  1. Grease and lightly flour a Kugelhopf pan.
  2. Cream butter, sugar and honey until creamy and light. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Sift in flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon powder and wholemeal flour. Return the husks to the mixture to mix.
  4. Stir in nuts, sultanas and apple. Combine well with a metal spoon.
  5. Spread mixture into prepared Kugelhopf pan and bake in preheated oven at 180°C for 40-50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the cake comes out clean. Allow the cake to stand in the pan for 5 minutes before turning out to cool on a wire rack.
