Recipe Ingredient

  • 60g butter
  • 1 tbsp shortening
  • 100g soft brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla essence
  • ½ a beaten egg
  • Sift:
  • 110g plain flour
  • 1 tsp milk powder, sifted
  • 1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 75g chocolate chips
  • 20g ground almonds
  • 25g raisins


  1. Preheat oven at 180°C. Lightly grease two to three baking trays.
  2. Beat butter, shortening, sugar and essence till pale and light. Add the beaten egg to mix and stir in the sifted dry ingredients. Add chocolate chips, ground almonds and raisins; mix.
  3. Using a teaspoon, spoon out the mixture onto the prepared trays. Bake cookies in a preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until cooked. Remove cookies onto wire racks to cool before storing them.
