A CHRISTMAS feast should be more than just roast turkeys and fruit cakes, say the folk at Hilton Petaling Jaya.

The festive mood should go beyond Western dishes as Malaysians are known to enjoy eating and celebrating every occasion with friends from different cultures and religions.

In conjunction with Christmas and New Year, four of the hotel’s restaurants are offering a special spread for their diners.

During a recent review, we had the chance to sample some of the dishes, starting with an assortment of sashimi, sushi, maki as well as a serving of Scallop Baked with Chilli Mayo, served at Japanese restaurant, Genji.

This was followed by three dishes created by the chefs at the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, Toh Yuen. We were served Deep-fried Prawn Mango Roll, Sautéed Venison with Black Pepper Sauce and Chinese Croissant and Stir-fried Glass Rice Noodle with Seafood.

Over at Paya Serai’s buffet spread, patrons can expect the traditional Roast Turkey with stuffing, Roast Lamb Salad with Mixed Capsicum and Walnuts, Artichoke Salad with Roast Beef and a portion of the Roast Duck with Orange Sauce.

No party is complete without dessert, especially those that come only once a year.

At the hotel, diners will be treated to Pumpkin Pie, Christmas Pudding, Christmas Fruit Cake, Christmas Yule Logs, Minced Pies, Stollen and assorted cookies.

Those who fancy a classier sit-down four-course meal dinner can opt for Uncle Chilli’s Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve dinner priced at RM130++ (adult).

Paya Serai is offering its Christmas Eve Dinner and Christmas Day Hi-Tea at RM125++ (adults) and RM65++ (children), while the Christmas Day dinner is priced at RM115++ (adults) and RM60++ (children). The New Year’s Eve dinner is priced at RM130++ (adults) and RM65++ (children) while the New Year’s Day Hi-Tea is RM110++ (adults) and RM50++ (children).

Genji’s Christmas Eve buffet dinner is priced at RM140++ (adults) and RM70++(children) while its New Year’s Eve buffet dinner costs RM140++ (adults) RM70++ (children).

Both Toh Yuen’s Christmas Eve dinner and New Year’s Eve dinner are priced at RM80++ (adults) and RM40++ (children) each.
