MUMS and dads are in for a special treat as Di Wei Chinese Cuisine restaurant, Empire Hotel will be having promotions throughout the month of May and June in conjunction with Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

Executive Chinese chef Chin Chong Voon, who has over 20 years of experience in authentic and fusion Chinese cuisine, will be whipping up an array of delectable dishes that promises to be pleasing to the tastebuds.

The Mother’s Day promotion will feature a nine-course gourmet meal, with dishes such as double-boiled stock with superior shark’s fin and dried scallop, as well as spring chicken with fresh ginseng in superior stock with glutinous rice.

The latter dish sees flavourful chicken stock infused into the glutinous rice after slow cooking for four hours with ingredients such as wolf-berries and red dates.

The steamed cod dish with fried ginger and coriander leaf was a clear winner. The cod had a melt-in-the mouth texture, with the pounded ginger and coriander paste bringing out the fresh, sweet flavours of the fish.

Dads will not be left out as the restaurant will also be running another promotion called the Father’s Day Papa Fusion Set Cuisine.

Some of the dishes to be featured include the baked fresh sea prawn with superior soy sauce, sliced abalone with bean curd skin and asparagus with superior sauce, and stir-fried assorted vegetable delight topped with crispy squids.

The fresh and succulent sea prawns were big and juicy while the asparagus and vegetable dishes acted as a palate-cleansing, refreshing change,

The meal ended on a sweet note with chilled sweetened mango mousse served with berry puree. The soft mango mousse had just the right amount of sweetness balanced by the slightly sour taste of berry puree.

Chin said that they were constantly coming up with fresh, creative ideas to serve quality food to customers.

“Promotions at Chinese restaurants often offer a package of 10 pax for a standard nine-course meal, but sometimes families do not have a large number of people. By having this promotion, we can cater to smaller families,” he said.

Both promotions will run throughout the entire month of May and June, and are priced at RM108.00 ++ per pax.

The promotions don’t end there, as Cantonese dim sum takes center stage as the featured promotion for the month of May, with over 30 varieties of the bite-sized morsels made to order each day.

Some of the featured new offerings include steamed pork dumpling topped with mini abalone, steamed prawn dumpling topped with shark’s fin, deep-fried grouper fillet wrapped with pastry skin and mayonnaise, and deep-fried salad roll with seafood paste.

Prices start from RM18++ per basket. The promotion can be enjoyed from 12 pm to 2.30 pm from Monday to Sunday.
