Recipe Ingredient

  • 500g chicken, cut into bited-sized pieces
  • 2 onions, chopped/diced
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 2 ginger paste
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 sprigs curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp plain chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup water (optional)
  • oil
  • salt to taste
  • Grind following spices till fine
  • 5 cloves
  • 5 cardamoms
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp fennel

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken pieces with ingredients (A) for two to three hours in the refrigerator.
  2. Heat five tablespoons oil and fry ingredients (B) and (C) until fragrant. Add ingredients (D) and saute until aromatic and oil rises to the top.
  3. Stir in chicken, water and yoghurt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until chicken is tender and gravy thickens.
  4. Season to taste.
