ONE thing that stands out at Outback Steakhouse in BB Park, Low Yat Plaza, Kuala Lumpur is the food.

Offering generous portions of meat, pastas, burgers, nachos, appetizers, salads and desserts, Outback Steakhouse has something to offer everyone.

The franchise is known to steak lovers in 23 countries for its quality food such as the famous Buffalo-style chicken wings or its Chocolate Thunder from Down Under.

It has been a decade since Outback made its mark tantalising the taste buds of locals, expatriates and tourists that flock to Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur.

Being the most successful restaurant in Low Yat Plaza and having the highest percentage increase in food sales award to their credit, it is no wonder Outback Steakhouse stands out for its good food.

Outback Steakhouse (South-East Asia) managing partner Rajiv Bharatiya said they covered the whole spectrum when it comes to the food, even having something extra for the children.

He said the restaurant had just added 16 dishes to their menu.

Among the new items are Combination Appetiser, Crispy Calamari, Seared Ahi Tuna, Outback Nachos, Crispy Chicken Salad, Pepper Salmon Salad, Toowoomba Pasta, Steakhouse Pasta, BBQ Beef Ribs, New York Strip, Typhoon Burger, Grilled Chicken and Swiss Sandwich, Fish Sandwich, Banana Nut Cake, Dessert Sampler Trio and the Kids Pasta and Fingers Combo.

“We understand the needs of our customers. In Malaysia, people love salmon and salads as well as combo meals, so we introduced new dishes based on their feedback.

“We serve the best meat from Australia, including sirloin, tenderloin and ribs, poultry and seafood, using our special seasoning when we make them.

“The best thing about us is that we make everything in-house from our sauces and dressings to the various cuts of meat,” he said.

Kitchen manager Anto said the special seasoning came from the US and was used for the vegetables, poultry, meat and seafood.

“We cut our own meat, which has a shelf life of two days, so you can be sure of the freshness. The meat is chilled and air-flown from Australia to the restaurant.

“We grill our meat according to what the customers want, as some like it medium or rare while others prefer it well done.

“For our pasta, we also make our own marinara or cream sauce, meaning everything is made in-house,” he said.

Outback Steakhouse’s beef is soft and almost melts in the mouth. The preparation of the meat is done well without the smell, leaving the juiciness for people to sink their teeth into.

The salmon is fresh and, even after it is cooked, one can enjoy the taste of the flesh of the fish.

The Outback Nachos, one of the new dishes, is very cheesy and served with sauteed lean ground beef, fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, jalapenos and sour cream.

The Seared Ahi Tuna is a must-try as the tuna doesn’t taste like fish but more like a juicy meat dish, which goes well with its creamy ginger-soy sauce and wasabi vinaigrette.

As for dessert, no one can go wrong with their pick especially the Banana Nut Cake, served with whip cream, caramel, nuts and vanilla ice cream.

Portions are again generous, making it great for sharing with friends and family.
